If you are traveling with kids and will sit at the pool all day and don't care about whether you get a good night's rest, then maybe you will think the price is worth it. I didn't get any of the higher end items as I was not wanting to give the property more money than I had to. The crab cakes seemed to be mostly breading, but it was still tasty. Other reviewers complained about the food, but I didn't have as much of an issue there. It is apparent from the non-professional attitude of the employees that the management/owners don't care to maintain the level of service that is expected from this rate level. I travel a lot, and I know what to expect based on a hotel's classification and rate. Maybe people that visit the Fairmont that aren't from the area will be pleased.but if you are someone that expects to get your money's worth when you pay this much for a room, then you best just buy a day pass for the pool and stay somewhere else. I am a Montanan, so maybe that kind of interior won't appeal to me as it is a cheap, older rustic style that is done better at other places. I really don't normally care about the design of rooms and the decorating, but the dated looks contributed to the appearance that the place is retro in a bad way. I'm guessing the bulk of their operating money comes from the annual pool passes they sell to the locals. The uniformed lifeguards were slow to enforce rules-when they bothered to enforce them. Is that legal? One of the staff (she acted as a lifeguard but wasn' wearing the gear) appeared to be on top of things, but she was the exception. Instead, just a big safety hazard because you can't exit the pool from that side. You could swim in the deep-end, but you couldn't exit. Yes, the warm pools were nice.but they had the outdoor pool deep-end entrances roped off. Much better than the standard stuff in a 3 star hotel.but I couldn't use it. And the room, yes, it had nice equipment. They said they would call back and tell me, but guess what? No call. And when I asked on the first night if it would be open the next day (the sign only indicated a half day closure), the front desk didn't have an answer. The one other amenity I planned to use (exercise room) was closed the entire weekend.but no one could tell me a consistent reason why. I sleep with earplugs, but that will not negate the shaking pillow. ![]() This wouldn't normally be an issue since most people go to bed at a normal hour.but because of the 24hr access to the pool, well, people roam the halls at all hours. The floors of the hall transfer movement whenever anyone is walking (or running-love the kids, not really) down the hall. However, I think I paid too much even with the coupon. This place has a reputation for being really nice. I booked a reservation here using a fall special code they were running. Don't know that we would seek it out again but glad we stayed once. Over all we had a great time at the resort. Very reasonable for a golf course and in good shape. Food was good - again, nothing spectacular. Managment not real helpfull with this issue. Either the heat is on or off, or the A/C is on or off. Come to find out that the whole buidling is controlled by maintanance. When we arrived in our room it was very warm - but the A/C did not work. I understand that you pay for the proximity and use of the pools but it kind of misses the mark. Nothing special but a little pricey compared to other properties. The hotel is an older property but it has been updated. The kids really enjoyed the waterslide once we reminded them to open it. The night we were there it was not crowded at all. ![]() ![]() The hot pools are exceptional - both an indoor and outdoor option. We stayed one night at the Fairmont Hot Springs just outside of Butte, MT.
